3rd Semester
"/in time"
In cooperation with the Kunsthalle museum in Karlsruhe.
A woman...
...standing inside a painting/ hanging in a repository
...lingering in distance/ gazing to the side.
...sunken in reference, world-estranged, displaced in distance.
Albert Lamm, "Mädchenbildnis"
The painting we are looking at today, although seemingly unchanged,
is almost 130 years old. It is not the same as it was when it was first painted, and neither are its surroundings.
is almost 130 years old. It is not the same as it was when it was first painted, and neither are its surroundings.
We have only experienced the world as it is today and will therefore never fully be able to understand the framed woman that we see before us, leaving her inherently lost and disconnected.
She is frozen in time, split between being incapable of accomodating to the fast-changing world, and being unable to go back to her own.
